This expressway is part of the Bangalore to Bantwal National Highway, NH275. This highway connects Bangalore with Mangalore via Mysore, Madikeri and Bantwal.
The fastest stretch (expressway) is the 117km long stretch between the NICE Road on the Bangalore side & the Outer Ring Road on the peripherals of Mysore city. This is a typical 3+3 lane expressway, either fenced on either side or elevated all the way through. You can not stop midway and take detours (like wayside shops and fuel stations). The exit points are designated ( like one in Ramanagara, Madhur, Mandya, Srirangapatna etc).
Also, a 2+2 lane service road runs parallel to the expressway connection to all the small towns and villages.
For safety reasons, two-wheelers and auto rickshaws are not allowed on the expressway once, it's fully operational. For riding towards Mysore on two-wheelers, either you're the service line (which runs parallel to the expressway ) or use the less busy leisure Kanakapura route.
