Bengaluru (Bangalore) is a major gateway city to Mysore. Mysore is located about 140 kilometers southwest of Bangalore. The approximate traveling time is 3 hours, from Majestic (in Bangalore) to Mysore city. See the travel options to Mysore from Bangalore.

The two cities are connected with frequent bus and train services. Both are quite popular means, though train is slightly popular over the bus, thanks to the convenience and relatively lower ticket fares.

Bangalore to Mysore by Train: The train option is popular for many reasons over the bus. The main railway station (Bangalore City Junction) is located in the city centre. That's a huge convenience against the bus station located in the city outskirts, in Bangalore from where buses to Mysore operate.

You would find a Mysore bound train in every 1 hour or so from Bangalore. Some express and local trains operate between Bangalore and Mysore, while a lot many long distance trains also connect Mysore via Bangalore.

Apart from Bangalore City Jn, there are also other railway stations in Bangalore (like Whitefield,Cantonment etc ) from where you can get a train to Mysore.

Bangalore to Mysore by Bus: KSRTC (Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation) operate frequent bus services between Mysore and Bangalore.

There are many bus terminals in Bangalore. The Satellite Bus Stand is about 5 km from Bangalore City railway and the Kempegowda Bus Station (Majestic Bus stand) are larger ones. From Bangalore city center, take a local bus or auto rickshaw/cab to the satellite bus station, it's about 45-60 minutes drive, considering the traffic.

Majority of the bus to Mysore from Bangalore is operated from the Satellite bus stand in the city outskirts. Though you'll find some long distance buses to Mysore go via Bangalore city center.

Buy tickets from the counter located near the bus station platform. The premium buses (Volvo type) run non stop between Bangalore and Mysore. The non ac type service has many stops enroute.

Also if you are flying into Bangalore, consider KSRTC's  FlyBus service. They operate directly from Bangalore airport to Mysore city.

Talking about the road connection, you can either opt for the public transport (by KSRTC bus) or drive all the way to Mysore.

Bangalore to Mysore by Cab: You may want to do this as pick and drop service or as a package involving sightseeing of attractions as package. There are two ways to do this, broadly.

Book through one of those online cab booking services (like OLA, Meru,Taxi For Sure etc). Note that they generally have a per kilometer rate, per minute wait charges and so on, mainly aimed at intracity (Bangalore). Nevertheless , it is possible to hire them for Mysore , say from Bangalore airport.

The second option is to book through the reputed local cab operators (Bharat international Travel, Akbar Travels etc,KSTDC ). Prebook and avoid ad hoc hiring on arrival at railway station or airport, as it is a hassle to get the right price and service.

Also there are quite a few operators in Bangalore offer the Bangalore-Mysore-Bangalore cab service as a tourism package . Checkout with the likes of Viator to get a premium service.

Bangalore to Mysore by road: The state highway (SH17) connects Bangalore with Mysore. This is a busy but fast moving route between the two cities.

This 140 km or so route is 4 lane with many towns and villages on the way. You should reach Mysore city in about 3 hours from Bangalore. The route is like this.

Bangalore city - 50 km -> Ramanagara – 30 km -> Maddur – 20 km -> Mandya- 22 km -> Srirangapatna – 13 km -> Mysore City.

Flight connections to Mysore: Spicejet, that operated between Bangalore and Mysore suspended the regular flights.

Explore the direct Bangalore airport to Mysore bus service by KSRTC called Fly Bus, if you are flying into Bangalore from other cities. Or look for a cab hire from Bangalore to Mysore.

Other alternatives are to head to Bangalore City catch bus or train to Mysore.

Most of the trains to Mysore operate via Bangalore City Jn (SBC), located about 1 hour taxi ride/2 hours bus ride from airport .

Another alternative is to look for a train from Yelahanka (YNK) railway station, about 20 minutes (20km) from the airport. You can save the long ride to the Bangalore City Junction railway station, if got into a Mysore bound train from Yelahanka. A couple of long distance trains to Mysore (like the Hampi Express and Basava Express) stops at Yelahanka.

Bangalore – 50km -> Ramnagara – 30km -> Maddur – 20km -> Mandya- 22km -> Srirangapatna – 13km -> Mysore City. The SH17 route via Mandya is faster and wider, than the NH209+SH33 route via Malavalli. If you have no specific reasons, opt for the SH17 route.
