There are two Dasaprakash hotels in Mysore, both run by the same management.
While the old hotel is located right in the city center, the relatively new Dasapakash Paradise is located a in the city's residential area a few kilometers from the city center. The details here is about the 'old' Dasaprakash hotel.
For decades this has been a standard budget hotel for the visitors of this city. This is a large hotel complex with that old world charm. So if you are looking for a swanky business class like facilities and service, possibly this is not the right hotel. On the other hand , if you are traveler looking for a decent, safe and budget class accommodation, this is the time tested choice in Mysore.
From the busy square outside, this looks like a small place. But the passage right through the building expands into a open court. There is even a small shrine like image  in the court. The long blocks of this three storied hotel overlook the central court.
There are many types of rooms (around 100, maybe) . By and large they are small and very simple, but this hotel has some larger AC rooms too. Most of the rooms are long the verandah along central court. This open space duals as the parking area too.
The tariffs ranges from around Rs300 for a simple single room to around Rs1300 for AC double rooms.
A  highlight of Dasaprakash is the vegetarian restaurant called Akshaya located inside the hotel complex. Weather you are staying with the hotel or not, this is a nice place to try some typical south Indian food. The lunch hours are pretty busy. The platter meals seems to be a very popular choice among the customers.
Though it is quite an old and traditional hotel, this is not one of those so called 'heritage hotels in Mysore'.
Dasaprakash hotel it is hidden deep inside the busy market area, accessing is quite easy. The hotel is located somewhat between the Mysore Railway Station and the KSRTC Bus Stand (Central bus stand).
You've to go for an auto rickshaw from either of these places to reach the hotel. However it is at a few minutes walk to the west gate of the palace ( Balarama Jayarama Gateway), the City bus stand, Gandhi square, Sayyaji Rao Road etc. The easiest landmark to remember is the Gandhi Square.
Like mentioned earlier, when you are hiring a taxi tell the driver to which Dasaprakash you want to go, the one near the Ghandi Square or the newer Dasaprakash Paradise.
